Vietnam's Manufacturing Growth Strengthens Its Position in ASEAN Supply Chains

Strong manufacturing, construction and investment activity is reinforcing Vietnam's role as a major ASEAN production base and widening industrial cable requirements.

Vietnam Manufacturing and Cable Market Outlook

Vietnam entered 2026 with strong industrial momentum and a growing role in regional manufacturing supply chains. This matters to the wire and cable industry because factories, industrial parks, logistics facilities, electronics production and energy-intensive operations all depend on reliable electrical and communication infrastructure.

Manufacturing remained a major growth engine

Vietnam's National Statistics Office estimated that GDP grew 8.02% in 2025. Industry value added increased 8.80%, manufacturing rose 9.97% and construction grew 9.62%. Capital formation increased 8.68%, while industry and construction represented 37.65% of the economy's structure.

2025 GDP8.02% estimated growth
Manufacturing9.97% increase in value added
Construction9.62% estimated growth

These indicators do not translate directly into a cable-market forecast, but they describe an environment in which new capacity, factory expansion and electrical-system upgrades can support broad demand for building wire, low- and medium-voltage cable, automation cable, data connectivity and production equipment.

Foreign investment reinforces the production base

The Ministry of Planning and Investment reported that registered foreign investment reached US$38.23 billion in 2024 and realized capital was estimated at US$25.35 billion, up 9.4% year on year. Manufacturing and processing represented 61.4% of accumulated registered foreign investment at the end of 2024.

Vietnam's attraction is supported by its export manufacturing base, trade integration and location within ASEAN. At the same time, international institutions continue to highlight the importance of reliable energy, transport and logistics infrastructure, stronger links between foreign-invested and domestic firms, workforce development and efficient project delivery.

Different factories require different cable solutions

Production environmentsMachinery, robotics and control systems may require flexible, oil-resistant, data, sensor and industrial Ethernet cable.
Facilities and utilitiesFactories need power distribution, fire-performance cable, building wire, emergency systems and dependable internal communications.

Electronics, automotive, metal processing, food production and high-technology facilities do not share a single specification. Suppliers need to understand load profiles, installation conditions, applicable standards, fire requirements and the customer's maintenance strategy.

Vietnam's market position therefore creates opportunity for both volume products and more specialized systems. The strongest suppliers will be those able to combine quality documentation, technical service, competitive delivery and an understanding of local industrial projects.

Market context: Economic and investment indicators provide background for industry analysis; they should not be treated as a direct measure of cable sales.
